Michele, HGMS Shop Supervisor, will teach you to polish a cabochon in the HGMS Lapidary Shop.  You will be provided with a prepared cabochon preform that has been cut, shaped, and dopped to streamline the process.  You will polish the stone on the machines in the Lapidary Shop.  You will leave with a polished cabochon.  Photo shows stages of polishing from rough slab to polished cabochon.  It is highly recommended that you take Sharon Halton’s CABS 101 class for complete instruction when it is offered again, if you enjoy this short introductory class.

LOCATION:  Lapidary Shop

COST:    $10.00 Includes instruction and materials

DURATION:  1.5 to 2-housr

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY:  Easy

MINIMUM / MAXIMUM PER SESSION: 1-student minimum; 4 students maximum

AGE:  14 years to adult.  Any student under 18 must be accompanied by a parent on premises.
