Small Torches for Jewelry Making Class

Dates & Time: Friday, September 16th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
SMALL TORCHES FOR JEWELRY MAKING (STJM-091622-JS) will be taught by Jeanean Slamen on Friday, September 16th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This hands-on class will benefit aspiring jewelry makers who are “torch-curious”, or hesitant about operating a torch. Affordable and portable butane “micro torches” come in a variety of sizes and capabilities. You’ll test test-drive several types of micro-torches in a safe environment while trying out annealing, fusing, melting and soldering fine silver and sterling silver. The instructor will discuss torch safety, demonstrate torch techniques, and discuss how to set up a soldering station at home. All materials are included in the class price.
Cost: HGMS Members $55.00; Non-Members $70.00
Minimum 2-students; Maximum 4-students
NOTE: Registration for this class closes 48 hours prior to the start of class so that material kits can be prepared.
Jeanean Slamen fell in love with an undergraduate metalsmithing class eight years ago while working on a fine arts degree in painting. Since graduating, she has been focused
on many areas of lapidary and metalsmithing. Jeanean intends to offer other jewelry making classes building on the skills taught in this class.
