Small Torches for Jewelry Making Class

Dates & Time: Thursday April 7th from 6:30PM to 8:30PM
Jeanean Slamen will teach this evening class for “torch curious” students who want to make jewelry using small butane torches to anneal, fuse, melt, and solder fine silver and sterling silver. The instructor will discuss torch safety, demonstrate torch techniques, and discuss how to set up a soldering station at home. A range of jewelry projects suitable for butane torches will be shown and discussed. Students will visit a series of stations to learn specific torch handling skills, use a variety of torches and create elements for a pair of silver earrings. Tools & materials included.
If this class attracts enrollment it will continue to be offered as one of a series of single-session classes that will focus on projects to build specific metalsmithing skills.
Member cost is $55.00; Non-member cost is $70.00 (all tools & materials included).
Maximum 6-students; Minimum is 4-students.
Jeanean Slamen took an undergraduate metalsmithing class eight years ago while working toward a fine arts degree in painting. Since graduating she’s been a jewelry maker who occasionally paints.
