Basic Jewelry Making Skills Class 4-Week Class

Dates & Time: Thursdays, from 1 PM to 4 PM on Thursdays, March 3, 10, 17 & 24
Maggie Manley will do a series of four-classes focusing on the basic skills needed to successfully fabricate projects using beads and wire.
We will begin with basic stringing techniques and proceed into basic wire working techniques. These classes will combine skill drills with making projects utilizing new skills in beading & wire working. Individual support for students will be provided on Sundays from 1 PM to 2 PM following each class, if requested in advance.
We will learn about, and practice, some basic bead stringing skills including simple stringing, knotting, macrame knots, and using a loom. We will review use of various beading materials including, needles, various stringing materials, various types of beads, crimping, wire-guards, clam shells, crimp covers, clasps and jump rings. Projects may include knotting of pearls, gemstone bracelet on wire or leather, seed beads, etc.
We will learn about, and practice some basic wire working skills including tools, wire sizes and types, making simple & wrapped loops, hammering and texturing wire, beaded chain, spirals and making wire components. We will learn to solder jump rings, if time allows.
We will create a sampler of numerous techniques within the class timeframe rather than focusing on completing one or two major projects, however, you will have the skills to delve into more complex projects after completion of these classes and we may decide to offer some project specific classes in the future, if desired. The classes will be tailored to the skill level of student attendees.
Notes: Project examples and resources for materials and additional learning will be presented in this class. Note taking is recommended.
