The Archaeology Section meets at 7:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the Clubhouse, where we delve into a number of topics involving human existence and the forebears of modern humans and their artifacts. This includes some anthropology and paleontology–many of the Archaeology Section members are also Paleontology Section members.
Every month the Archaeology Section (AS) Vice-Chairman picks an archaeological subject, area, or thing of interest. He/she notifies all HGMS members who have attended AS meetings or field trips via e-mail with links to information on the next AS meeting topic. That allows members to do their homework before the meeting, and to bring in information, pictures, artifacts, or other items relating to that topic to discuss or present for Show & Tell. Usually there are from 12 to 20 HGMS members in attendance for each AS meeting. Several members regularly bring very interesting archaeological artifacts to show.
