HGMS Scholarship Form Available on the Web Site
The HGMS Board of Directors will be selecting a recipient for the 2009 Art and Elizabeth Smith $2,500 Scholarship and a recipient for the 2010 Bob Cross $2,500 Scholarship. Both will be awarded in 2010 to two people who meet the qualifications specified on the form. CLICK HERE to download the form.

Backbender's Gazette is now available.
HGMS member articles and the BBG were forwarded to the 2010 AFMS Bulletin Editors' Contest by the SCFMS. HGMS did spectacularly well. Check it out on page 16. John Emerson describes the code wheel he and his employers used for secure communication while he worked in Iran. Chris Peek wrote a poem twitting the Ogre in the Shop. (Gee, who might that might be?) Mary Ann Mitschner wrote a poem about shiny heart cabs. Terry Proctor's second FYI article with interesting Web sites is on page 12. HGMS Outreach Project: HGMS is sponsoring a new Outreach Project to provide Earth Science and Lapidary (jewelry making) information to greater Houston and Harris County. The area is divided into eight districts; each will have an HGMS group that coordinates with various organizations and groups in each district to provide information and hands-on training several times a year.
