The Houston Gem and Mineral Society is an all volunteer-run earth science education organization. We take pride in the fact that we hold a large number of events throughout the year, and each of those events is staffed by our generous members volunteering their time and talent.

Our largest event by far happens to be the largest Gem and Mineral show in the state of Texas. It is a 3-day show held on the second weekend of November each year. This show has 70 different slots that need to be staffed over three days, totaling over 200 different shifts. Please be generous with your time and help us continue to hold the best show in Texas!

Volunteering at the HGMS Annual Show
Areas that involve primarily sitting include ticket taking, ticket sales, swap area
Areas involving money are the Ticket Booth, Info Booth, and Swap Area Cashier
Inside involves School Daze (Friday) and Scout Merit Badge (Saturday) and Youth Section (all days); outside is the Dino Dig.
This is for volunteers who have multiple shifts they signed up for. We would like to know if you would like us to pick one or if you are available for each time you chose.
There is some training required for Info Booth volunteers. There are always several people per shift. It is usually busy with a lot of interaction with the general public. In this position you are the face of the HGMS.
